1985 Honda Accord (manufactured in Japan) 4-door sedan "S" (Standard) with 132,000 miles, a 1.8 liter carbureted engine ("Low Altitude (49 ST)" Emission Group), and a 4-speed automatic transmission starts normally but immediately wants to die unless the accelerator pedal is vigorously pumped. Even then, keeping it running for any length of time is extremely difficult. Although happening more often than not at this point, the problem is still intermittent (it occasionally starts and runs normally). It has an automatic choke which appears to be functioning properly (the choke plate is closed when the engine is cold, and it slowly opens as the engine warms up). The air filter, distributor cap/rotor and fuel filter were replaced just recently. Any and all ideas would be welcome at this point. Thank you....

Take a guess for you with those symptoms we both know 100s of things could be wrong but it is consistent with lack of fuel "delivered" no different than any machine.
I need you to look for what this uses for a fuel pump. Follow the line with the fuel filter see if on side of engine or nothing seen I think there were some in gas tanks maybe some outside but at gas tank.
I don't think fuel is getting to carb enough with your description. Yes more likely with mechanical on engine pumps can work and fail that type can also leak some can leak into engine oil so check and smell that if overfull or oil all wrong.
Start with that next would be a large vacuum leak but check that fuel issue out first,
