I have a 1969 Camaro with a 350 engine that recently had the wiring for an alarm ripped out. Since then I have not been able to get the car to stay running once turned over. I can get it turned over but once I realease the inginition key the car turns off. Thinking that it was the ignition switch I replaced it and it did not fix the problem.
Any ideas????

There’s a possibility that when the alarm was removed they disconnected the primary ignition feed wire; between the ignition switch an ignition coil?
The way the thing is/was wired; during cranking the ignition coil received full battery voltage from what is called a by-pass circuit. The starter solenoid has a terminal on it that as long as the starter is engaged; this terminal is supplied battery voltage, which goes directly to the coil positive terminal.
When the engine starts and the ignition released too the run position; battery voltage is removed from this terminal and the ignition coil receives its power from the ignition switch via a resistor wire. This resistor wire is to lower the voltage at the coil; to help prevent ignition point arcing; which in turn makes the points last longer.
Check whether there is power at the ignition coil with the ignition switch in the run position. If not start tracing this wire back to the ignition switch; you’ll likely fine it cut/broken or a heavily corroded connection somewhere.
