07 gp brights turn on when i use turn signal Sign In

I have a 07 Grand Prix with 155k. whenever I use the turn signals, the brights will turn on. I have to pull the signal lever back to shut brights off everytime i use turn signal. where should i start my troubleshooting? should i replace the whole lever?

? How to be sure on this?

Yes - this "multifunction" switch would be highly suspect but not sure if you'll know without looking right at it and connections in hand. A parts look up showed two possible, one if with factory fog lamps and one shown without.

If that is the right part it appears you push in to change high and low beams not the down and up "click" type?

See what others say but I would blame the switch itself as so much goes on in the thing AND you said pulling on it makes it quit showing "brights" as you put it,

Yes, that would be my primary suspect too.

Yes Tom and Hammer, that is the part I was talking about. Is installation pretty straight forward? I consider myself a pretty good shade tree mechanic. Is this project something a shade tree could tackle? Thank you for for both of your inputs

You may have to pull the steering wheel off which means messing with the airbag which can be very dangerous and require special tools.

Not sure and as Hammer Time said if wheel must come off YOU MUST KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO DEAL WITH AIRBAG TO DISARM AND PUT ALL BACK WITHOUT QUESTION!

Just maybe you can do this removing covers to column and still be careful or get help. No way is it worth unexpected airbag going off or NOT working if it ever should...........

It's 1.3 to change it so I seriously doubt it comes out that easily. It has an obvious screw going in from under the wheel.

SnapOn has a ball-torx bit driver specifically to allow you to get that out without pulling the airbag and steering wheel. Cost is about $25. I have one and it works. Call your SO rep and grab one to save a lot of hassle.
