We have a 06 Mazda tribute that sometimes hesitates when starting up hills. The motor revs up but it takes it a second to actually take off. The transfer case went out a couple years ago and we has a new one installed we always keep a good check all fluids and none of them leak so?? It also has a history is stalling while driving. Once if comes to a complete stop if will start rite back up with no problems. We have had this car since new and took it to the dealer and they say can't find anything

Which engine?

Does it stall as your coming to a stop? Has it ever stalled while putting it into drive or reverse?

The engine revving while starting up a hill sounds like the transaxle is slipping. Could be the fluid level is low causing the pump inlet to be uncovered.

It has the dohc 24 valve v6. It only stalls sometimes but its only when driving about 55 or so never when just sitting still or putting in drive or reverse

If the engine controller isn't setting any codes and the stalling is intermittent, those are the worst problems for any technician to figure out. Sometimes a glitch can occur for only a few milliseconds, which means the tech has to be at the right place at the right time when the problem occurs.

The only advice I have for something like that is to take note of all the conditions around you and what exactly was going on. You already know it seems to be speed related. The trick is being able to duplicate the conditions when the problem showed up.

If you can duplicate a set of conditions to make the problem occur, the technician will have the tiger by the tail and should be able to pinpoint the source.
