Hey,

I have a 2005 chevy cobalt coupe with the 2.2L engine. I got in my car this morning and after starting it, was unable to pull it from park. So I got the girlfriend to wake up and check the brake lights and they do not light up when I press on the pedal. So the first thing I'm doing is replacing the pedal sensor but I am having difficulties getting to it. I can reach my hand in but can't see it. How does it unclip so maybe I can feel around? Or is there an easier way to get at it than going from underneath and reaching?

-thanks

I would check the fuses first.

Well...this is really weird. I checked my fuse and it was fine. I put a new sensor in with your procedure and it fixed the light problem. So now my brake lights light up when I press the pedal, but I still can't shift out of park... when I press the pedal I can hear a little click coming from the bottom of the shift knob but the button still won't push in. Because I am hearing a click does that mean the little solenoid in there is working? I am at a loss

It sounds like it's trying but may not be strong enough or you may have it jammed from trying to shift it. There shoult be a release there somewhere to manually unlock it.
