Odometer Reading: 132192
State: North Carolina
Inspection Test Results:
Catalytic Converter PASS
PCV Valve PASS
Unleaded Gas Restrictor PASS
Exhaust Gas Recirculation PASS
Fuel Evaporation Control PASS
Oxygen Sensor PASS
Exhaust System PASS
Stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes: P0302 – Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected.
There is a very noticeable loss of power and a great amount of hesitation when accelerating. It also sometimes sounds like it's going to stall when idling in drive. I added Sea Foam Motor Treatment to the crank case and gas tank before the last oil change and it seemed to help some, but only temporally.
I also seem to have a coolant leak because the coolant tank looks completely empty ever few mouths and I have to refill it, but I can't find any sign of where it's happening. No spots on the ground and no sign of coolant in the oil. Engine temp seems to always be right in the middle. The AC system also seems to be running constantly even when turned off.
I've checked the spark plugs and they are the right color and look like they should be replaced soon, but oil appears to be leaking into cylinder 2. A friend said this means I have a stuck / broken piston ring and if it is a broken ring the only thing that will make the service light go off is if the engine is rebuilt!
The most immediate problem however is that I can't get it to pass state inspection because the service engine soon light is on (which they say equals an automatic fail) and getting it to pass inspection is a extremely important right now because in NC you can't renew your reregistration until after it passes inspection and the reregistration has now expired and I only have the one vehicle. Money is also extremely tight right now for me so I can't just go out and replace it or get any expensive work done on it right away. So if anyone has any ideas as to what else it might be or at least how I might get it to pass inspection and buy me some time I would be extremely grateful.

try replacing #2 spark plug/check for spark
get a noid light and see if injector circuit is operating properly
Test injector resistance of injector (think it should be 2.5~3 ohm, but I might be wrong)
Compression test on all cylinders
Should also fix the coolant leak have it pressure tested and inspected for leaks, if no leaks are present at the time have dye added to the coolant system and re-check at a later date.
I would try that stuff first, I've herd people say plugs where oil soaked befor and just end up being fouled and wet with gas.
