04 Chevy Colorado leaking coolant Sign In

Hi all!

Hoping to get some help on diagnosing this week’s problem with my truck. Engine overheated a couple days ago because my radiator went bone dry. I had been checking and filling my reservoir routinely. Reservoir remains full. The radiator however does not seem to retain coolant for long. I have replaced the thermostat and am going to replace the hoses next. Drove it around a bit today and the temp gauge did not raise over center line but the coolant is still leaking fairly well from somewhere I can’t see...seems to be somewhere centermass...the connections to the radiator seem fine and the connection from radiator to thermostat/engine was clean and dry.

Any and all advice welcome before I give in and take it to a shop.

Reservoir was going low first was the better time to find this. Now leak still unknown is excessive sucks back air thru it rather than coolant back.

So: #1 was always quit driving it like that but probably too late find it anyway. It's so fast now just pressure test it at radiator should make itself clear where.
If not able bite the bullet and take it in. It very well might not be a cheap fix you are still driving it!

If you have it, dry off areas with compressed air and watch for it under pressure. If hissing spray that with soapy water so you know what. Low coolant = overheat almost nothing made can take it without something icky (bucks or hard) going wrong you didn't need,
