2003 jeep grand cherokee 4wd 4.0 I6 auto. my buddy wants me to change his fuel filter on his jeep tomorrow. So today, i stopped by the local parts store and picked up the filter. Now i know most of the newer cars have the fuel filter as part of the fuel pump assembly inside the tank and the rare car that still has an inline fuel filter is just a basic inlet/outlet filter bolted to the frame rail somewhere. but the fuel filter for the grand cherokee has an electrical connection along with the inlets and outlets???? i confirmed the part numbers with the store and its correct. does the fuel filter also act as some sort of like booster pump in the fuel system for the jeeps??? and now im assuming it would be the same protocol on replacement. bleed off the fuel pressure in the lines disconnect the battery, disconnect the lines and replace? thanks danny __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

I don't think it has electrical connections. It has 3 lines because it's not just a filter. It's the regulator too. Make sure you buy a name brand because I have had a lot of defects on them. These are not maintenance items and are not recommended to change for no reason. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
