03 Cavalier won't idle...

My son went to leave work and the car started right up but does not idle. It has 193,000 miles and is a 2.2 Ecotec with no problems up until this point.
I cleaned the throttle body the idle motor moves when you turn the key on and the TPS also checks out ok. I sprayed ether around the intake ports
and the engine did not change. When the car is running the idle motor seems to be wide open, it has a lot of suction. I don't know if this is normal.
It would seem that the motor would close if it had a vacuum leak and idle fast...just my thought. It runs fine as soon as you go off idle. I can't find an EGR valve. Any ideas would be welcome.
