Please bear with me, I know basically nothing about cars, but this is what is going on...

A couple weeks ago, my car started randomly dying on me. It has started to happen more frequently. It also "misses" occasionally. Yesterday, the turn signals quit working for some reason, but then started working again on their own.
Today, I took my daughter to daycare and the car died in their driveway. I restarted it, drove a couple blocks, it just didn't seem right, didn't sound like it usually does. Then, when I got onto the highway, I realized that it wouldn't go over 45 and it took a lot for it to get up to 45 and make kind of a crunching sound when I pushed real hard on the gas. It will drive fine at 30, but that won't really get me to work :/ Also, the "check engine" light isn't on. I'm freaking out that it could be the transmission. Please help!

First thing to do: Get the code(s) pulled.
Autozone or some other repair shops will do it for free, Make sure you get the number that they find and post it.

Good luck

That's one of my biggest problems... I'm not sure if it is safe to drive my car that far. The closest place I could go is 20 miles away.

it's hard to say what it could be with that description, but I do know that you won't be able to fix it since you know basically nothing about cars(as you mentioned above). I wouldn't recommend driving it expecially on the highway. It could be multiple things sounds engine related, but I can not say for sure without actually seeing it my self. I would have it towed to be on the safe side.
