I've got a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 3.0L 308,000 miles. Yesterday on my way to work out started a dead miss. Limped it to work and I thought it had a fouled plug. The valve guides are shot and if it sits idle for a few it starts pumping out smoke. Limped it back home, started to remove the intake and I saw that wire 3 had an arc. So it turns out I drove it about 80 miles with an arc. I moved it so it couldn't arc, started it and still had a miss. So my question is, did I fry the 3-6 coil pack?

If you haven't yet, you soon will if you don't get those wires replaced.

I changed the plugs and wires but it changed nothing. Still has a no code misfire. I know the coils are firing. BUT I can take the plugs to each coil, reverse them, and it runs exactly the same. The only thing I can think of is crankshaft or camshaft positioning sensor. But that's a total shot in the dark. I have no clue.

The truck has 300K on it. Have you even taken a compression test?
