hi everyone I was vacuum testing an engine and when I wide open the throttle the gauge doesn't drop and back, what kind of problem is this, the vacuum reading was around 18, this was 2000 Mazda tribute 3.0. thank you.

Could you describe what you mean more clearly.
What happens when you bring it up to 2000 and hold it there?

Ya - what are you trying to do? 18Hg at idle fine and if you snapped throttle just by hand for example under the hood it would quickly drop and come back or as HT asked what is it at steady 2,000 RPM which should be the same as idle with no load.
If you want and it's helpful info you still need to know you've tapped into actual manifold vacuum "T'd" into source such that what you are tapping into still operates whatever it went to.
Rather than this quite yet - what are you looking for or trouble are you having if anything?

thank you for the response, what I meant was when I hook the engine vacuum tester and depress the gas pedal the vacuum gauge should drop to zero or close, I mean when the throttle is wide open, and this is not happening that's my question, and once again I don't know what is causing this if you can help I would appreciate.

Having too much vacuum is not a problem.

Does this vehicle have a drive-ability issue? Are there any trouble codes stored in the engine computer? If so, what are they?
