orange stream from under engine Sign In

Frownhi there, i am hoping for some advice. i have an older ford explorer that appears to be having trouble. i woke up this morning to a stream of bright orange fluid starting under the car engine area, and streaming down the driveway. It does look like the same as inside the radiator but it is not dripping from the radiator area at all. My concern is if the car is blown up. I have no idea what is wrong. And, I have been taken advantage of by car repair folks soo much I am afraid to take it to get looked at. I am hoping for any suggestions as to what the problem may be, because I am wondering if it is safe to drive to just take the kids to school and home until I can save money for repair or a new car or do I need to start taking the bus and walking them. Thanks in advance for any info or advice.

Re: orange stream from under engine Sign In

The only fluid used in cars that I know of that's orange is a special type of windshield washer fluid. Check all the important fluids and the one that is low is of course the suspect. In general......

Anti-freeze is green or red - some is now colorless

Auto trans fluid is red and freqently used in power steering which can be colorless

Oil is clear to brown and greasy in your fingers

Brakes fluid is clear and will wash off with water - a clue

Rusty water could look orange and may just be coming out of a door or some body panel.

Sometimes it's something that spilled in the car - but that should end

Good luck and Happy New Year,

Check the fluids as said and watch the one that is low as said, - T

Ps: Find a repair place you trust.
