hello, well 1986 pontiac firebird recently purchased. 2.8ltr v-6. motor turns but only makes a low whiny noise. guy i purchased from from says installed new timing chain and gaskets.seems to me theres not any compression. i am bye no means a mechanic. it doesn't even try to start just turns over. all help appreciated thank you in advance.

Not a mechanic? Do you have any experience working on vehicles?
Compression test would be the first step. There are many many sites, videos, and information on performing compression tests on the internet. Record your numbers and post back.
