leaking oil from all 4 exhaust ports Sign In

i have just done a top end rebuild on a 2004 1.3 el daihatsu sirion. new valves, valve stem oil seals and gaskets, when the engine was put back together a pressure test was done and there was 180 psi across all 4 bores, so the pistons was fine. when the car was started it was ok for the first few minutes then started smoking blue white smoke, not just a little bit but PLUMES of it. i removed the cat/manifold and started the car again and there was lots of oil coming from all four exhaust ports as soon as it started. the head is straight, no cracks, all torqued down correctly, and gasket on as it should be. i am now totally baffled as to why there is this much oil escaping into the bores and coming out of all 4 exhaust ports. ANY HELP WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED THANKS.

Yep, that's what happens when you do only the top end on a high mileage engine. The bottom end can't handle the higher compression

Was this overheated? If so, that might explain why it is burning oil now. Overheating it really bad will take out the rings. How much blow by in the crank case?

but thats the strange thing, done a compression test and it was 180 psi across all 4 cylinders, the car has never over heated, theres not that much oil in the top cover, and even took it apert again to see if the valve stem oil seals were wrong but they were all ok

Why was the cylinder head overhauled if it had only 60K on it? Good compression doesn't tell you the condition of the oil control rings. Oil in the cylinders will also raise the compression.

Comment: With all that oil this would have good compression probably without rings at all! Could still have very excessive blow-by even with low miles just less likely but so is needing to do the upper end over?

IDK - Is PCV system sucking in way too much too fast? Concept should separate oil from vapor but only to a reasonable amount,
