ignition rotor burning out Sign In

I have a 1997 gmc with a 5.7 liter vortec and it has now burnt out 2 ignition rotors and a distributor cap .
does anyone know what would cause this. Since i replaced the last rotor i have only put on 1500 miles and needed to replace it again.

Take this one step farther and replace the ignition wires and spark plugs.
If there is a bad wire or plug and the high voltage produced by the coil can’t get to where it’s intended to go; it’ll burn through the next easiest spot trying to get to ground.
