gas pedal Sign In

hi everyone this is a 2001 civic.the gas pedal is kind of sticky hard , could this be caused by a dirty throttle body need your ideas thank you.

Cleaning the throttle body would be a good first step.

Definitely clean throttle body as DS just said. Guess is it may be cable operated? Do (cold engine off) put a Q tip drop or spray of like WD-40 on these things when extended on the cable or wire all over. Hood release, trunk/hatches gas doors - anywhere. Gas pedal on inside too up and under.


When these things break they are a PITA to correct vs a few seconds of prevention. Not seen on any list of routine service - just do it,

Does the pedal feel the same whether the engine is running or not?
