I have Vauxhall corsa, 2000, 1.2 16v. 90000miles
I have a oil leakfrom the top of the coolant pump,
why would this be?
is the seal in the pump gone?

Re: coolant pump leak Sign In

We don't have this car sold to the US where most of us are but same ideas. They don't really have an exact know life expectancy.
Could be timing belt driven on this or accessory belt driven. Idea is it's sealing coolant also under pressure from outside of it as a closed system for just coolant to move it along. It would have an inner and outer seal and bearings. Most will have a vent hole in between out of sight on many that will weep coolant first or find some wobble to them not much allowed.
See if a generic pic will show for me?

^^ It was there showing a timing belt type not yours specifically.

So: If timing belt driven do the belt and all suggested along with it. If other still a good time for belts and hoses, new coolant and flush it as well while there.
I don't know of an effective way to prolong their life so when one leaks you just replace it earlier or later in vehicle's life,

T
(edit) pic didn't show. Yes it's a seal that is leaking if from the pump itself...........You replace that pump for that......
