car has white/gray smoke and high idle Sign In

I have a 1992 ford taurus SHO v6

I just changed my starter on my car and as soon as i started it after replacing the starter it started smoking out the exhaust.. Im not sure if it is white or gray smoke. It is also idling at 2k - 2.5k rpm. When i press the gas it revs really high really fast

What is the history behind this?

Why did you replace the starter?

Did it have this problem prior to your starter replacement?

Is the check engine light on? If so, you'll need to get hold of an EEC IV code reader to see what codes are stored in KAM.

ok well i got the smoke to stop with a gasket stop leak but it still has a rough idle. It goes up and down between 2k and 3k at idle. I barley tap the gas and it shoot up and when i let go it stays the for about 3 seconds and the slowly comes back down

You didn't fix anything. You just managed to create yourself some more problems. There's no such thing as "Mechanic in a can"
