I have a 1984 Toyota Camry with 2.0 litre 4 cylander automatic 4 speed.
It starts up fine and runs great until i am at highway speeds around 50-55mph and then it starts blowing white smoke but doesnt smoke any other time it still has good acceleration but i noticed that it is idling a lil high and when i first start it up i have to give it a lil gas but when it warms it it idles just a little high but like i said blow no smoke until i hit highway speed than it blows alot of smoke

OK - It's actually so old now I don't know much about this car! It may still use a carburetor and could use a vacuum controlled module for transmission shifting?

First thing is check all fluids to see which is low. White smoke suggests engine coolant but can also mean transmission fluid.

High idle? You have to have already gone thru vacuum hoses and leaks at this age a time to two by now if not all need be known good. If carb - the choke needs to be known working properly and might stay part on which alone would hold idle up and use way too much fuel. Black smoke if totally not working to shut off quickly, not white.

Yes - it would at first blush suggest ready for a head gasket job but check everything.

If you count on a car this old (no problem) you really need to keep up with details. Someone did along the way or it wouldn't be around now,

Check inside the valve cover for sludge build up. These engines were pretty notorious for that. The oil won't drain fast enough and the valve cover will fill with oil causing it to suck it in through the valve stems.
