Town and Country Van shuts down while driving Sign In

Hi,
I have a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country Limited. 3.8L 128K Miles. While driving at highways speeds for about 10 minutes the engine cuts off. Power remains on dash. It starts right up again and after 10 more minutes it stops again. When you try to restart starter will not engage(no crank, click, nothing). During each issue the power remains on inside. Had towed to dealer. Of course it started right up for them the next morning. No codes came up. Of course while driving it back from dealer same issue happened. I was able to get it home. Could not get it started that day but next morning it started right up.

Checked battery terminal , neg wire was corroded so replaced it. Checked battery and is fully charged. Did not correct problem.

Would appreciate any feedback on what could be going on and how to fix it without spending Thousands! Thank you very much!

When it goes to stall, is it like someone hit a light switch or a sputter down and die like running out of gas? Are any theft or security lights flashing when this happens?

One thing worth checking into that could do this is the ATX shutdown relay in the fuse/relay box under your hood. If it is failing when it warms up it will quit conducting electricity and shut you down until the contacts cool off. Its a cheap enough part you might want to try tossing a new one at it to see if it helps. Otherwise you'll have to be carrying around some electrical testing equipment to catch it in the act when it isn't starting, which seems to be a narrow window of time for you to do so. Unfortunately if this doesn't solve your issue, the bad news is you may need it to quit working completely in order for a shop to find the cause. If it starts up for them, everything will test good. Trust me, all of us in this field hate intermittents with no codes as much as the drivers do.

When the van shuts off it is immediate. No sputter, etc.. No Theft lights. Dashboard power is on.

Totally with Nick. Just some thoughts that will probably confuse the issue. Lights staying on dash while down doesn't really mean the world yet. No reaction when starter requested if your battery connections new or not and both ends are weak enough to carry amps of starter motor they will just about behave as disconnected.

Just if this is ongoing and that damned intermittent behavior look at something inside like a reading lamp while requesting starter motor. If they go out or way too dim battery connections still could be the issue.

If you just put on a cable end they aren't so dependable IMO. Real nice one are real hard to find or around me. Just in case get some PB (Power Blaster) on the engine ends of the cable connections now so they don't snap off so easily to remove later.

All this just because any vehicle but Mopars seem fussier about great battery and connections..................
