Please don't post on another person's thread that's now old. I separated it so this one is now yours. What is you trouble with the carb you have that you think you need a whole new one? Kits for rebuilding them should easily be available are mostly the gaskets and common rubber parts that do wear or are ruined from a total dismantle and clean up of the one you have. Front and rear pull offs will be sold separately. If original you need to remove tamper proof plugs to properly clean out and set the idle mixture screws should be explained in with a kit. If total new is mandatory for some reason I ask you why? T

Sorry for the rookie mistake of posting on an old thread. I need this carb because I don't have one at all. When I purchased this project, it did not come with one.

OK - If a project car then you aren't going to need (necessarily) that carb at all or that exact PN. How did you come up with that # ?? 1705 should mean it's basics was designed in 1975 and the other #s focus how to adjust it and other specs. That one is probably California only carb. Since you have none at all and only because of that you should decide if a total other brand available would make sense for this project and your expectations. Just search out the car, engine known exactly if you can or even know if it's original to the car and any good at all? T

Actually, not a CA carb. I am trying to restore to original specs. The vehicle is a 1977 Trans Am with a 6.6 liter 400 cid V8, W72 performance package with an automatic trans. The carburetor needed is a Rochester Quadrajet 800-cfm M4MC, part number 17057266. I am having difficulty finding this exact carb so I was hoping to get some leads on this forum. Thanks.

If you want this totally up to OE specs for value and it does matter I really suggest for all kinds of assorted stuff you find a club and site for assorted specific help to get it just right. Carb shouldn't be that hard as somehow you have the # that was on the thing. I question this having an open air hole where carb should be what might have happened to this engine if not sealed off and something known about it. 800CFM suggests it's a big block but IDK. Later 70's it could (I just don't know) be another division's engine - just fine but should know. At least Chev did make a 400 small block = 6.6 and IDK who else did. Can and will matter for things in common to the maker. In a quick hunt found a 17057256 not "66" and just don't know the difference? I didn't find the exact match but if you are sure you will new or redone or plain ask a place if they don't who does have what you want. I find leads that way as well as the web hunting, T
