Peice of ceramic off the spark plug may have broke off in cylinder head Sign In

Hi all, need help urgently plz.... this is how it started yesterday on the way home i felt the car judder in 1st and 2nd when setting off atfer a short motorway journey no epc or eml lights came on tho so i carried on seemed to be ok for a few mile, then same again on setting off on low revs this time epc and eml light up so i stop at the side of the road and plugged the obd2 in came up misfire in cylinder 2 so trip to Euro car parts (in missus car) new plugs and coil bought off back to the car so I remove the coil and the spark plug and notice a very small fragment of ceramic has broken off the spark plug (heart in mouth at this point 🤮 hopefully this happend before the plug was installed and its a big coincidence) now before I get it trailered to the garage for a borscope to be put down into the cylinder to check if its in there what's the chance of this fragment getting smashed to dust and passing through already causing no damge or is this wishful thinking 🤞 thanks in advance

Site is based in the US so even though you didn't mention what this vehicle is doesn't matter much. The porcelain broken off? The old one or new one already or new didn't fix it anyway I think you mean?
Most of the time I find that is trauma to it BEFORE it was installed or if engine so messed up didn't cause it was the result of something else. Does it show damage to the other electrode? Bad sign if so and most (never say never) times a chip falls off like I think you mean an engine will just pass it thru it's still possible caused damage you don't want.

Compression test or if you can get a good view of it know a valve or what lost a chunk first look hard at cylinder walls if marked up probably engine is toast but verify it,

Since the porcelain is actually glass, it usually won't cause any damage but as Tom said, look at the other plugs to see if there are any symptoms on other cylinders. You didn't mention how long these plugs had been in the engine before this happened. If it's been a while, the damage likely wasn't done during installation.

A lean mixture in that cylinder could cause something like that so it make be a good idea to do a fuel injector pressure cleaning.

? I'm confuse Mark88 - Sorry if not reading you properly but you said you had new part(s) but unclear if you've just installed them or wondering if damage is for sure because it misfired and would show codes for any reason it misfired.
Really - in ages don't see many like you described none harmed the engine blame it on aggressive plug gapping (wrong) or some other strange reason if it was in for a good while not right away. Package if dropped is NOT good for these parts or during installation either. Might show right away or later. Not many in some untold # of plugs.

I suppose if water was used or got in intake for any reason that could do that or some sudden shock of cold anything fuel or otherwise put in intake?
I doubt damage still have seen worse pass through exhaust valve on out without harm engines known fine for years later,
