My Friends,
No fuel is reaching the TBI, when I turn the key on the fuel pump whine for a couple of seconds then stop which is a good indication that the pump MAY work. Also the engine run for a bit when I prime it so it is getting sparked.

The filter is new and a month or two ago I tested fuel pressure and it was 10 psi with good.being 9 to 13 psi. How do I test the fuel pressure on a truck that don't run? What else should I do?

The truck ran fine the day before but wouldn't start this morning. Well, there was a couple of times that power seemed lacking during acceleration, nothing drastic though.

Hmmm? May need some better data from the others for this. You need to know if the fuel pressure is within specs WHEN it does this. Hearing pump buzz and shut off is fine alone as it built up pressure or thought it had then was waiting to need more after engine was either running or cranking and apparently isn't getting delivered so far.

The priming and short lived run does point to this being only a fuel delivery issue not spark anything.

A code reading could help about now even with the OBDI set up. Limited but could help. I have the reader which is mostly a book to translate blinks to #s then tell you what it was thinking which is just jumping two ports on connector really and I'll wait for the guys to say which two - don't do that wrong!

Early still but may have some crank position sensor telling it that it isn't cranking the engine such that fuel injection isn't being told to deliver. Again, check the fuel pressure with the problem happening. If your last test was before it doesn't count now,

What thhe fuel pressure was a month or two ago doesn't mean squat today. The fuel pressure was correct then but what is it during the failure?

You also need to use a noid light to test for injector pulse.

I did jump the A and B terminals on the under dash diagnostic connector but there are no codes. Also there isn't a crank position sensor on this engine.
FYI the guys over at .gearhead-efi.com say that OBD I have lots of information and all one need is a $45 cable and some free software and one can access the information with a PC.

TMK - all you get is counting blinking CEL and make it a # then look it up. If nothing by paper clip way there's probably nothing it will help you with.

Remember with those they repeat 3 times, first is that it is communicating but I think we should move on from any of it. If you want a PC connector reader fine but doubt it's any better just faster?

Said a couple times - check fuel pressure WHILE this is happening. About anything you check if not misbehaving isn't going to tell you much,

HAMMER TIME my own personal savior, my mechanic with shiny wrenches ;~) Thank you for your support, so I need a noid light test, well it seems Pep Boys have it listed in their lone a tool section. I'll make that happen and get back with you.

If you find you have no pulse, then check for power at one of the wires with the key on.

I jumped the A and B terminals on the under dash diagnostic connector but I only got 1 then 2 blinks not only three times but continually indicating no codes.

I'll have to barrow a fuel pressure gauge when I get a noid light from PepBoys,I'll get back with you with the results.
Tom Greenleaf, thank you for your patience and support, I truly do appreciate it.

look back a couple post for Hammer Times. That should be a tell test.

~~~~~~~~~~ The repeating blinking was just to say it was in touch that's all. I think it would just keep doing that forever. Forget that for now,
I have completed the noid test for both injectors and am getting a signal to both.
I got a fuel pressure tester from the parts store loan-a-tool and will be ready when I get back from services.
I suspect that I check pressure during cranking and during the couple of seconds after the key is Turned on?
You want to monitor the pressure through the entire process.
So there is no fuel pressure either with the key switched on nor when the engine is cranking,
what is the test I should try?
OK, now go to the tank and test for power arriving on the gray wire during those same periods. It only powers for 2 seconds when the key is first turned on. It resumes when it sees cranking.
Do you want me to test it directly on the terminal at the pump, which requires me to drop the tank or Can I test it as close as I can to the terminal without dropping the tank?
No, just access the wire. There should be a connector accessible that you could backprobe also.
In reply to your change in title, which you shouldn't have done by the way because it will mess up the search function, the noid light is a special low impedance bulb that will not damage the computer as a regular incandescent bulb will.
Actually, I am going to drop the tank. I want to take a look inside just to see the condition.
You really need to finish your testing before disturbing things.
Sorry, I done it already, I've been out of it a few days fighting a horrendously painful ordeal.
Anyway, there's a small crescent shaped filter that was clogged with some yellowish substance. Should not there be a larger sock like filter on the pump as well? Also the rubble gasket is turning into goo, well it is gummy now, little like rubber.
I've been fighting the photo uploader here but it want to pull my teeth, take a blood and urine sample then come back for stem cells and DNA samples. I'm fresh out of all. All I do have is wrinkled, dry skin draped over rickety bones, knarrowly black toenails and I don't know what this growth is on the end of my.. ..Well, let's just say that I don't have what it wants so I couldn't upload these great pix of everything.
Wasn't there a screen attached to the bottom of that pump?
I tried to get your pictures to show up here but it didn't work.
there is a small crescent shaped filter that was clogged with some yellowish substance, The substance was some kind of grit with some sticky coating. I pulled the screen out, it seems like it can be cleaned and put back but my concern now is how do I clean the tank.
Usually I would think Hot Tank but there are plastic bafflings inside that I don't know if they can withstand the chemicals and hea, I suppose both can be turned downt but the tank it isn't very dirty so I'm thinking that perhaps there's a method of cleaning it that is less involved and costly and do a good job.
About the pump, there's a rubber gasket at the bottom that is gummy, like taffy. I have pix but until I figure out how to get pix addresses in my post they cannot help me. I tried the url button below to no avail. Anyway I was saying or about to ask should I replace the pump or gasket.
Got one I think. Where was that? Any ideas on what the "goo" is? Others showed rubber messed up but not the pick up sock shown.
What the heck happened in that tank? Cleaning???? With baffles and no clue what type might be used I plead IDK the best methods. The few needed I just replaced with new so no help with this exact one,
I think you are way beyond cleaning anything. You have some severe contamination of "who knows what" and i don't think you can ever get it all out. Someone installed that pump without the pick-up strainer it was supposed to have. That screen you dig out is not designed to be removed so that pump is basically junk now.
I would say you are looking at changing the tank, pump and fuel fiilter.
Here is what the strainer looks like.
You could be right but I am not ready to accept that without being sure, I still have the screen with enough to I.D. and/or use to discover a way to clean/neutralize it.
I am not going to spend $250 to $300 on a new tank before I first am completely sure the old one cannot be cleaned. Keep this in mind, the inside of the tank doesn't look to have any of that residue like that on the screen.
