Need Help with low cooling temp sensor Sign In

I have a 1992 Buick Lesabre 3800, did a tune up on it. But i also replace a couple of sensor do to the code read out. I found the low cooling temp ,but no wires or harness to plug into. But i did find out if i unpluge the sensor on the backside of the engine in line with the fuel injectors , the radiator fans would run. But if you plug the sensor in it would stop runing. I still have no idea where the wire go ( yellow and black ) wires for the low cooling temp sensor with not harness. Need help PLEASE.
(edit out personal info)

SORRY FOR NOT PROOFREADING BEFORE I POSTED IT.

There is a Low Speed cooling Ing Fan Reday and a High Speed Fan Ing. Reday

The one i was told to replace was the senson that sits under the Intake Air on the drivers of the engine. The ECT sensor.

Sorry again and i hope this helps Thank you

No such thing as a low cooling temp sensor. You sure you don't mean the engine coolant temperature sensor?

What is the code number your getting?

Yellow and black wires are the colors for the wires that go the engine coolant temperature sensor.

You should also proof read what your typing, so we don't need a secret decoder ring to figure out what your typing.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Re: Need Help with low cooling temp sensor Sign In

Not sure how you got in this jam, how you read codes with what conclusion?

Black/yellow is real common for a CTS, = Coolant Temp Sensor which is telling the "computer" how cold the engine is so it can deliver the correct amount of fuel based parts on that into. Pretty sure if unplugged you would flood it out.

Real common - the sensor is near thermostat and wiring from car should plug into new one if replaced or new ones can come with a new pig-tail of plug w wires to splice it in.

What code told you this circuit even was noticed by # please post it. That doesn't mean sensors are bad just that the circuit has an issue at the age sometimes the plug so new ones come with them as said.

More info needed. What troubles or why did you do this stuff to begin with?

I bought the car that way, i did not know about it being unplug. There are no wires to splice into. The serson sits on the drive side of the engine under Intake Air, right by the thermstat. I was told it was the ECT sensor and the codes were #15 and #23

Re: Need Help with low cooling temp sensor Sign In

No wires or a dangling plug for this but the sensor must be there or it would have to be plugged as it touches engine coolant.

Various acronyms can be used - the key you said was black and yellow wires - where are those now?

Replacement should look like this now...........

Note pig-tail and shape of the plug. In this both wires are black and would usually just match up the location with the old one.

This if you don't see that shape on a plug somewhere or the matching part at the sensor I don't think you can make this run well with it missing, damaged or inoperational. Codes IMO don't mean squat yet if wires all messed up, pinched - who knows what you'll get.

If this is totally altered on purpose for who knows what reason I'm a bit lost to help. Probably if hacked up enough would find even a fixable used whole harness if that bad.

These and many cars have temp sensors for just telling engine controls how warm or cold engine is (this one) another for you dash gauge or light and another for when fan(s) should kick on.

If this was a bit newer vehicle it would be sending temp info for more than just those mentioned. If a bird's nest now this will be a challenge,
