Golf GTI No power Sign In

2001 golf gti vr6.Ran great but not now.Has no power. Will start idle rev a little.Get up to about 2400 rpm and stumbles and falls on its face.No codes.Pulled compresdion test and everything is within specs.Disconnected exhaust thought may have been clogged.Installed new plugs and wires.Just went like this after sitting for 8 hours.Got off work and drove coupla miles.Gotta get this running anybody got any ideas what else to look for.Thanx in advance.

Test the fuel pressure using an accurate gauge.

Larry - Doesn't sound like this is for you. That's why tech's go to schools and spend mega thousands on tools and training. It's not just some "app" and it's magically fixed. This is still in a diagnosis stage and it's not going anywhere if you can't come up with the answer you were asked so perhaps you should get help with the problem...........

Professional fuel pressure kits come with adapters that allow you to "T" into the pressure line coming out of the filter.

As Tom said, if you're not equipped for this, it's probably time to take it to a shop.

Re: Golf GTI No power Sign In

Just wanted to report back on the problem with no power on the golf.I did pull a fuel pressure check on it.All I wanted to know was if there was an easy way because there is no shrader valve on the fuel rail.I did it at the fuel filter.Pretty simple.Thats why I go to these forums to get a little info on some cars that I normally dont work on.Its my sons car and trying to save money like everyone else.I dont feel a need to go to the dealer or garage everytime a problem arises. Not looking for an app either.Just a simple answer to a simple question.Fuel pressure was fine.So reading this and other forums I thought I would check the coil pack out a little farther.I did and it was cracked.Bought a new coil pack on ebay and we are back on the road again.By reading these problems with other owners I realized that it was probably going to be either the fuel or coil packs.I know sometimes you do have to take it to a pro and get it diagnosed with expensive machines.Saved money and still got the car fixed.Imagine that!

The answer is nobody wants to overspend but in the course of trying to save $$ you could cost yourself tons more for not having it done or buying the tools - your call on which.

One or just a couple times if you need to purchase certain tools or equipment doesn't pay off at all. There's "frugal" and then there's "cheap." Which would you like to be?
