Funky Start-Up Problems Sign In

I was hoping to get some advice. My manual transmission Saturn runs fine most of the time, but every two months it refuses to turn over. This only happens after driving for awhile, turning off the engine and then restarting within two or three minutes. The battery is about two months old, and it has nothing to do with cold as I live in N.C. where it has been warm. The first time this happened, a jump started the car, but the second time, it didn't. But after the car sat for an hour, it started right up without a jump and has been running ever since. Any ideas????

There are a number of things that can cause an intermittent no crank, things from ignition switch, clutch switch, poor connections, bad cables to the starter motor itself.
With you saying that the car does this after driving (Being brought up to temperature) and restarted on its own after sitting I would suspect the started.
But with out doing voltage drop tests and taking voltage reading at the different points in the system, while the car is doing its thing, it’s just a guess.
You could start with the basics and make sure that the battery and the started connections are clean and tight.

Just a thought: If the battery is only two months old then the connections were undone - duh. Easy to recheck that those are clean and tight - maybe someone left one too loose by mistake. I totally agree with Dan's comments and things to check out, as usual. Good luck with the fix, - T
