Fuel Filter Problem--Line twisting

I am trying to change a fuel filter on an '85 Mustang 5.0. It is the small stone type in the carb. housing. When I try to break the nut loose the whole line turns thus twisting it. I have tried to lightly hold the line with pliers but it still turns with the nut. I have soaked it in PB blaster and even tried to "spring" the nut by clamping it very tight with vise grips on opposite sides. The car only has 17K on it and the line isn't all rusted up. I can't believe I am having this much trouble. I don't want to twist that line off. Thanks.

Those things stink!! PB is about the best you will find. It's possible that you may need to replace a section of gas line and I suggest you do it right with metal line and flared fittings. Rock it back and forth and maybe youll win. If you need the filter right now you will need to splice in a new line, T
