Engine Revs Normal, Car Won't Move

My fiancee has a 2003 Volkswagen Passat that she put in reverse this morning, drove into the street, and the car promptly stopped moving after that.
She couldn't reverse or move forward. Her engine revs like normal but her wheels won't move.
I'm not car-smart and through online reading, I've gathered it could be a transmission issue since the engine seems fine.
I noticed a large tear in one of the hoses attached to the engine and wondering if this could be causing any of the issues.
I'm adding some pictures (hopefully) below to show the overall engine and where the tear in the hose is:
