hi

what could be the issue when the engine just becomes really rough right after pressing the gas pedal and check engine light comes on at the same time with random intervals while pressing/releasing the pedal?
it's a 2004 model with 2.8 hdi diesel engine (94kw)

it basically had a timing belt replacement before the problem occured, but it worked totally fine when driving out from the garage back to home etc.. and only appeared after the van was sitting in 1 spot for a while.

there were also some codes stored in the memory, but only p0red in the memory, but only p0335(revolution sensor?) kept coming back and only when the pedal was pressed (did not appear at all while just idling).
so would there be some more codes after driving a bit faster/more or would they also appear after some small parking space maneuvers?
(air and fuel filters were already replaced, but some weird sensor below the fuel filter probably broke off, but would that be even be so important at all... the problem occurred before that break anyway)

sorry, the weird sentence should have been only this:
"but only p0335(revolution sensor?) kept coming..."

and i don't even have a clue what is causing this totally random pc/forums error here, lol... (it randomly appears in totally random forums sometimes...)

Sure seems like you should be checking the timing belt that was just replaced when this all began. By the way this vehicle not sold to the US so not a clue what to specifically look for,

There are no Citroens sold in the US

TMK = "to my knowledge" hasn't sold a vehicle to the US in ages now. It's totally limited for me/us to dig into specifics just common sense a repair or service was just done didn't go properly right away is or was the instant cause of the problem you have now? Was it doing anything wrong before that? Was that just routine or had it broken already?

There may be a Citoen specific place for details and would be checking on things like is this an "interference engine" for timing belts I wouldn't know where to look for that info and find it quickly anyway,

well, it probably is an "interference engine", but i'm not really sure why the belt was replaced and how long did it stay parked after that, but how can it drive like 10+ km without any problems at all and then the issue just starts after parking? (altho it probably first started at higher speeds actually... but i have to check how much was driven by that time then...)

and why is it totally normal when idling then, if the timing 'is' off on the thing...

Anything with a belt is tensioned somehow or has guards to hold it in place. I just think it's not holding itself in true and proper position now would suspect almost everything is "interference" means valves are not fully out of the way if "valve timing" isn't really close and stays there.
Some can jump back and forth to be on the mark I can't explain how but drove one for years and ignored it, one of my own (of hundreds) and knew it finally plain fell off was a chain vehicle but wasn't interference,

Re: Citroen Jumper rough pedal and check engine light Sign In

well, i just confirmed that the problem only appeared after just parking in 1 spot for some period of time and not during the drive from the repair shop... (altho the generator's bearing got stuck during that parking time and it took some starter yanks to get it loose...)
but are all diesel engines the "interference" types or some are different too?
and wonder why does it have a 150amp fuse on the battery terminal and how much might the actual cranking amperage be?

Re: Citroen Jumper rough pedal and check engine light Sign In

That 150amp fuse is the main fuse for the entire electrical system to include recharging.

The cable to the starter is not fused. It's a straight battery cable.
