Toyota Avalon 2002. Not sure what engine size, probably just the standard. Not too sure of mileage, has been used mostly for commuting to train station, less than 10 miles a day, since it was bought. The accident was that at night I accidentally went off a road that suddenly went from two way to one way, and I went onto a curb that led to a wide grassy area that was also really rocky. I heard my car go over the rocks clunking. The car went all the way onto the grassy/rocky area and kept going several feet. Was going 20 or 30 mph when I hit the curb. After that I tried to start the car, and it wouldn't start. It would make a low grumbling sound when I tried to start it, but it wouldn't start. Also there was smoke coming from the front. It never had problems starting until this rocks incident. As it was night, I just had it towed. Haven't taken it to a mechanic yet. I will, but I'm interested in your guess about what the problem is. Also, if you have guesses, how much would those things typically cost? Someone who didn't look a the car said it was probably an oil leak from the cover under the car getting bent and breaking something. Is that probably it? Thanks.

Nobody is going to have any idea what you did to your car without inspecting it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

It's been in an accident, you haven't looked so how could we even guess. You or someone is going to have to plain look to see the extent of damage to what to have a clue, T

OBVIOUSLY. Nobody understands the idea of "what are POSSIBLE problems"? You can list 15 if you need to. I know nothing about cars, so if there are 15 things it could be, that still means there are 500 other things it won't be. This is the type of response that makes me hate going to mechanics. Uggh.

Here's just what you need You're not looking for a mechanic. You're looking for a fortune teller.

You probably shoved a rock through the oil pan and broke the crank in half. This locked the engine up and now it is going to cost you thousands to get it fixed. The person that owns the property will probably sue you for destroying their rock garden. Since you don't have the money, you'll probably end up robbing houses or selling drugs. Then you'll get caught by the law and put in jail. During your trial, i'll be in the jury box. You'll be found guilty and imprisoned for 20 years in Alcatraz. By the way, we are mechanics, not fortune tellers. If you want your fortune read, go to a palm reading forum. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
