Tested resistance on the harness that plugs into module as stated in the haynes manual and found it to be off. this car already went to a supposed mechanic and he "re-synched the computer" wich fixed the problem for a couple of hundred miles. I need to know if running it with the module unplugged for a few days is going to damage the car further. I plan to replace the throttle body with a junkyard part and I also need to know if it will have to go on a computer afterwards to re-synch it. If anyone has any advice on the subject I would greatly appreciate it. The girl who owns the car is a hardworking bartender with little money and I really want to help her out. There is no mechanical link between the accelerator and the throttle valve. The motor on the throttle body moves the throttle valve and the accelerator pedal cable moves the shaft for the throttle position sensor. Before replacing the throttle body you need to exactly find out what is wrong with the EPC system. After replacing a module or throttle assembly, it has to be relearned. If the battery is disconnected, the throttle assembly connector is unplugged, or any other reason causing loss of power to the throttle system, the system will have to be relearned using a high end scan tool or the factory VAG. If there are any particular trouble codes being stored in the ECM related to the EPC system, that will cause the system to not relearn and cause stalling. You best bet is to have an experienced tech with the proper tools and knowledge of the system resolve the problem. We took the car to a vw mechanic and he checked and then replaced the throttle control module and the throttle.body.you can not replace one without replacing the other. I drove the car for two weeks with out a problem before my girlfriend drove it and bam same problem.
