A couple of month ago, the check engine light on my '98 Galant with 102,000 miles came on. I took it in to a local shop and was told it was the Idle Air Control unit, and referred to the dealer. About 2 weeks later, I took it in to the dealership they verified I needed a new IAC unit at $454, and possilbly a new computer for an additional $780. So far, I'm in for $600 with nothing accomplished. At this stage, is it worth getting repaired, and what are the chances of NOT needing the new computer.

EGAD!!!!! The prices! No maybe diagnosis for $780 for the computer. If you do need it check out used.
I guess I've lived with an angel on my shoulder because when some part got that expensive I went to my local junk/salvage yard and got it for near nothing, T
