96 Grand Cherokee Laredo takes 3-4 attempts to crank Sign In

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 6-cylinder with about 252k miles. Whenever I attempt to crank the Jeep after it has been sitting for 6+ hours, (for example: leaving for work in the morning or leaving work in the evening) it almost always takes 3-4 crank attempts to get it to start. However, once I've gotten it cranked, I usually don't have the problem for the rest of the day; If I have to run to several places around town, each time it cranks fine, its just that initial crank from a "cold" start that gives me trouble. Also, whenever I have to stop quickly from a high rate of speed, say 45 or higher, the engine will choke down and act like it wants to cut off. This problem is always worse during colder weather. Luckily, it always eventually starts, so although my situation is not drastic, it is nevertheless very aggravating, especially when I'm in a hurry to leave in the morning. It also puts extra wear and tear on my battery with all these extra cranks. Over the past 1 to 1.5 years, I have replaced the starter, alternator, serpentine belt, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, fuel pump, fuel filter, battery, crank position sensor and engine computer (I didn't do all that for this issue alone; this jeep was a bit of a project when I got it). I know I need a new O2 sensor, but I've been told that it should have nothing to do with this issue. Does anyone out there have any helpful suggestions?

The check valve in the fuel pump may be bad causing the it to siphon all the fuel pressure back into the tank. You will have to check that with a fuel pressure gauge and see if it loses the rest pressure right away.

agree - it is likely a fuel issue
Ck for any codes even if the CEL is currently off.
Ck fuel pressure, and observe the leak down rate when keey is turned to off,

if above is ok with a scanner observe ECT, as well as STFT and MAP...
