94' Chevy PU with 5.7L, automatic transmission - 145,000 miles Recently started to lurch while driving faster than about 55 mph. When it first started, a couple of lurches still happend at low speed and even in idle. Now it only happens at the higher speeds and especially when really getting on the accelerator. Engine, Tranny, Valves, ??? Help please.

I apologize, I am new to this forum and not a mechanic. So, when you say "ses lights", do you mean dashboard warning lights? If so, no lights come on. If you do not mean these dashboard warning lights, what are ses lights? As for "codes", do those come from connecting a diagnostic computer to my engine? Something I don't have here at home. I guess I was hoping for some some possible suggestions to what the problem may be before I spend several hundred dollars for just having the dealership or independent mechanic even connect a computer. Since I have never seen "codes", are these something I could generate and readout at home in my garage without a piece of equipment that only a professional mechanic would have? Thanks again for any help....

OK, upon googling I see that SES lights = service engine soon. This light does not come on.
