1992 ford explorer,xlt,4.0,about two weeks ago alternator was over charging so replaced with new one, every thing back to normal, then about three days later noticed a huffing sound from exhaust kinda sounds like-"huff-huff -huff-huff if said real fast, noticed that a vacuum tube was off from the valve that goes to the evaporative canister,,reattached but problem still exits, now I'm starting to notice a oder of sulfer/rotten egg smell, however there are times that it seems to smooth out when engine gets warm,im not sure where to look at next

That canister is to collect fuel vapor and burn it off in engine when told to. If hoses are off or not working perhaps it filled with too much and became raw fuel and now you smell that burning off of converters which isn't good for them but it all was right that should end and noise be gone. Check for condition of hose and if canister is still wet with fuel. Not really related to the alternator IMO but may have been bumped in changing out alternator? T
