91 s10 oil pressure gauge goes up when i hit gas	Sign In

91 chevy s10 pickup 2.5L 2WD. The oil pressure gauge is fluxuating all of the way up and down mainly up when i hit the gas. I have a hole in my manifold that im fixing next week. i dont know if the oil pressure gauge and the muffler are related. any ideas.

Oil pressure will go up and down with RPMs. Should stay withing safe area and should NOT fluctuate at the same RPM. Muffler should have nothing to do with it. T

its going all of the way up and down is that normal

NO! If it were mine I'd try a new sender switch which should be near the oil filter or if filter is remote follow the lines.

If there any noises like low oil or leaks that are unusual there is a problem but it's usually just the sender or the dash gauge. If not get it checked out as it could wreck the whole engine if really wrong. Good luck. T
