If I put my foot in the gas, however, it chokes, sputters, almost dies, then coughs out a huge plume of black smokey goodness! It has a check engine light but it's NOT ON. I checked for a loose vacuum line, but didn't see anything. Someone told me that if i turn the key on, off, on, off, on, the check engine light will blink Morse Code to me or something like that. any insight on that, or what the problem may be?
