4.2bank 1 lean bank 2 rich no cdes on scan tool

1997 ford f150 4.2 160975 miles truck started to misfire ( P0305) truck had been tune up the week before .my son was driving the other day when he smell fuel and the truck began to skip and backfire , and there is no codes. went thru the basic troubleshooting fuel rail pressure that was 30.5psi at idle used a stethschope to check injectors , found the # 5 not working that was replaced ,it ran fine after that ,change the spark plugs to ensure that none where foul out , now we start the truck runs fine for a few mintues and it starts to back fire and agin NO codes, pull the spark plugs out check them out found the right bank all carbon up and the left bank clean . that is telling us that the right bank is rich. we can not get any codes to steer us in the direction for repair . Any suggestions?

Does the fuel pressure bleed down quickly when you shut the engine off? Does your scan tool have data stream capabilities?

If it runs fine when you first start it and then starts to run rough and smell rich out the exhaust, try unplugging the O2 sensor on the right bank before the catalyst and see if the problem stops.


Actually Bank 1 is the right side on a ford.

I dug deeper into the emission side of the engine and found the egr was not working , used a vaccaum tester ,could draw the diagram up , check the tube on the egr found it is cracked on the down pipe next to bank 1 o2 sensor waiting to get the new tube and find out what happens next
