My husband drove our 2006 Toyota Camry SE, through a very deep puddle durning a bad storm. There was water in the air filter and in the spark plug chambers, and the battery exploded. We have since dried all the water out, changed the spark plugs and replaced the battery. The car still will not start. When we turn the key the lights com on but they are very dim. Does it sound like the starter is out? Or does it sound like the engine froze. If it is froze what can we do to unfreeze the engine ourselves?

You have most likely bent or broke a connecting rod. This happens in deep water all the time and the4 engine will have to be replaced. Make sure you have removed the spark plugs and spun the engine to get all the water out.

Thank you Hammer Time. Does the connecting rod affect the starter that seriously? How do we spin the engine to get all the water out?

Of course it will if the motor is locked up solid.
Once you remove the spark plugs, if it doesn't crank then, the motor is likely junk.

I don't know why, but reading this thread reminds me of that song Pontoon.
