2005 S40 Volvo Ck Engine Light

Hello. The ck engine light came on and I went to have it hiiked up to the computer. The code came back as a loose gas cap. I checked and the cap was indeed a bit loose. I tightened it but the light stayed on. Should I replace the cap, or does the ck engine light need to be reset? Thanks in advance

Would be news to me if a code told you a gas cap but rather on the list. If it runs perfectly you can just ignore the code or post it but it should go out with several cycles of starting up, shutting down and or so many miles.
Also that it doesn't have any fuel odor anywhere out of place,

There is no code that tells you a gas cap or any other part for that matter is bad.
It merely reports that there is a leak in the vapor system somewhere and just where has to be determined by a tech through a smoke test.

Figured. I went to Autozone and had them check it. Car runs absolutely fine. I guess getting it into the shop in the next couple of weeks would be a good bet? And thank you.

Yeah, they sell a lot of gas caps that way.

It's just an emissions issue and likely has no effect on engine performance.
