2001 Toyota Celica replaced fuel pump now no start Sign In

Hi, I replaced my fuel pump on my celica and now it wont start. I have checked and I do have fuel at the rail. Also have done relays and fuses and regulator. Im startin to think its the cam or crank position sensor or throttle body sensor and im not getting any injector pulse because of it. Im stumped on this and I appreciate any help. Thanks in advance

Doesn't seem like the first one was known bad? Having fuel at the rail doesn't mean it fine or gets delivered. You are tossing parts as guesses serves to please a parts outlet most.
What was the original problem? You need to know pressure at the rail at least.
For right now: Just spray some starting fluid in throttle body, put air intake items back together and see if it will run if only a few seconds as it's good info with no tools really,

It was the pump, it was making any noise at all. Or at least I think it was, I did the starter fluid and it fired hats why I think its a fuel issue it was running before, and I have a friend at the parts store so I have returned everything that hasnt worked. I dont have a gauge to read the pressure otherwise would have done so, any other ideas?

You need some tools and equipment or just making wild guesses takes tons of luck. Many tools are rentable for free with full deposits just FYI. Larger parts outlets it's common - need to ask what's available.
Not hearing fuel "you think" doesn't seem very sure? It would shut off when pressure is up and ready in a few seconds. This could be another noise old one made but did it work then?
If so something went wrong in just messing with it IMO.
Test plugs to items even along to fuel pump that it gets power and ground. Silly connections can be the problem with corrosion or broken.
Know this: Fuel pumps frequently fail if run low of fuel, worse if out of fuel a common reason for failure.
Did it run on that one?
It worked when primed so tells me electrical for spark is fine so rule that out now. Test why fuel is or isn't getting deliver with a power to pump issue, low pressure and on.
IDK - Does this have an anti-theft system? Some will disable fuel pumps if not reset. Do you hear the new one even trying to work?

Sorry lots of questions and need real info not guesses or it's all pot luck,

I just wanna say im not the most experienced guy with fuel systems and everything, the pump is priming and shutting off after it builds pressure. The old one worked but was not delivering high enough pressure I assu ume because it was misfiring and what not. Threw it in beause I had a extra laying around, after I did that it just cranks but wont turn over. I have gone through and tested power everything checks out. Like I said im not to educated on fuel systems so I dont know what else it could be.

OK - Getting there. New one primes up and shuts down but I'm not totally sure if that's because adequate pressure is achieved or just a time limit as other re-prime right away while pressure is still there and correct.
Yes - the old pump probably put out low pressure and probably was noisy itself which very well could cause misfiring, low power or not running at all so pressure now is needed.
I don't the spec at hand but could find it - so can you for exact engine.
Back to note that if an alarm or anti-theft something is in this it could be messing you up. Aftermarket ones well known to throw problems even without aggravating them!
The relays or things already replace also are plugs and connections to at least visually think they are good. A problem is NEW and too much NEW can be a faulty something throwing off the original cause.

So back to knowing the fuel pressure IMO even new or if it was just sitting around it could be bad or off spec all by itself.
Other to do while trying things, door open and cranking is do keep battery charged up with a charger. If you keep trying things and lights + starter being used it's going to go low and be its own issue at some point,

You have a good point about to much new, didnt think about that. No aftermarket alarm on it, also I thought about the new pump being faulty so I got a new using warranty. Still nothin, I guess im gonna go down to the parts store today to rent a pressure gauge, I didnt think about th timer situation either. So if I dont have enough pressure at the rail what else could it be besides the pump? Any chance I got two faulty ones in a row hahaha

OK - Great.
Some rambling thoughts: New parts. Think of a box full of light bulbs for example and so many out of 100 don't work type thing!
Fuel and other pumps: Most are dependent on the fuel to lube them or quickly burn out. Fuel also keep them cooler which is very helpful for it so always running low on fuel is harmful to many.
Some people will test a fuel pump out of vehicle and dry to see if it works. You can but it should be wet with fuel or trouble there then you put it in and it doesn't work at all or properly - Arggh!
Fuel pressure testing: Remember you must have a charged, good battery but with key just to engine run but not running called KOEO testing it should prime to spec pressure and hold that for quite some time. If not we find out why.
Then if that's all right why isn't it injecting fuel as it should? Noid lights test power to injectors don't cost much and may be rentable as well. They will blink and not harm your car if right. Not blinking when they should again, find out why.
Nice to rule things out as sure as you can before replacing parts. IDK, some even old parts are still likely to outlast cheap (you may not know what's in a box) one.
See what results you get with the tester and don't forget if battery is even possibly down from messing with it to charge it up. If low and voltage is low just from time and testing it can't deliver proper voltages at some point so don't let that confuse the show,
