I own a 1994 Toyota Corolla DX with 1.8L motor. It will not start and dont even sound like it wants to start at all.

Was driving it one day and it just sputtered a couple times and died out completely and has never started since. Has been sitting in my garage for about a year now and I finally have the time to work on it and I cant figure out whats wrong with it.

Things I have checked:
1)Sufficient fuel pressure to Injectors
2)Tested all four injectors and they are working correctly
3)There is good spark to all four spark plugs
4)Put #1 cylinder to TDC and made sure all timing marks lined up (they were good)
5)Good compression to all four cylinders
6)Nothing obstructing air flow to intake

Someone told me that it is likely the Crankshaft Position Sensor... But if that were the case, wouldn't there be no spark to the spark plugs? I'm at a loss here and open to any suggestions.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Brian

A crank sensor wouldn't allow spark. I'm guessing you checked for spark with a tester between the wire and plug right? By the way, thank you for the information in your post. Excellent presentation. You must've read the post about helping us help you. Have you physically inspected the spark plugs? I would wonder about the condition of them. It doesn't take much to get the tester to light up, but worn wires and eroded plugs can give you trouble. I would also try a compression test to ensure this isn't a junk motor. Sounds like you're pretty familiar with your car and tools, so this should be an easy one. Post back with the results, and thanks again for posting with such detailed info

Dont have a spark tester, just pulled each plug, attached it to the plug wire rested it on the valve cover and had a friend turn it over wile i watched. they all had strong blu/white-ish spark. Will let you know soon as I get my compression gauge from work again.

Any other suggestions?

The one suggestion I have that may help is, it's better to post the results of your tests rather than your conclusions.
i.e. "32lbs psi fuel pressure", rather than "good fuel pressure". If your conclusion is mistaken, then we won't be able to catch that...

You said you have spark, fuel, compression & the timing marks line up.....so it should run and we're missing something...

A quick check you can try is to spray a couple shots of starting fluid down the throttle body & see if the engine will run for a few seconds off of that........
