1994 K1500 Engine Code 42 Sign In

Hi, I have a 1994 Chevy K1500 5.7L TBI A/T. Every time it is cold started the service engine soon light comes on code 42. Sometimes the engine seems to faulter some when first started and then stalls. Engine generally restarts fine when restarted, although seems to be a little rough and the warning light stays on steady. After engine is fully warmed up and shut off, then restarted, the engine seems to run smoother and the light will stay off until started the next day. I'm mostly concerned that the engine will stall while driving, or stopped at an intersection, which would kinda suck.

Thank you for your time,

Tom

ps: I hope I didn't send this multiple times

Same as I said offline check some things. Great engines all need a tight intake vacuum or fools it.

Check for leaks. Said Vaccuum booster hose I'll add gasket from that TBI to manifold.

IDK, some you can cut a swollen vacuum line re-attach as base of the TBI.

Pre OBDII codes are near worthless if it isn't right will set of something to lead you astray,

Vacuum leaks and valve timing this old the engine if cared for at all could still be fine by itself,

Tom
