1992 Ford Ranger 2.3 4 cyl. check engine light on Sign In

I have a 1992 Ford Ranger 2.3 4 cyl. The check engine light is on. The truck has been sitting up broken for about 8 months. My stepson just replaced the bad cylinder head yesterday. This old truck is back on the road now. The check engine light comes on after about 2 - 3 seconds and stays on. I think I remember it being on prior to sitting up for all the time. A few years ago I had the cat con replaced. I am thinking that I probably need to get a new Oxygen Sensor to fix my problem. The truck has an expired state inspection sticker. They will automatically fail the truck if the check engine light is on. I called the local AutoZone and O' Reilly stores but they can't check codes on a vehicle that old. Would I be correct it replacing the Oxygen Sensor and hope that fixes the problem?

Thanks!

And what are you using to come to that conclusion............... your crystal ball?

You need to start off by getting hold of an EEC IV code reader and find out what code(s) is being stored in the engine computer.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
