04' Cadilac SRX 3.6 missfire codes p0300 and p0304 help.

I am trying to diagnose a engine misfire at idle and when running, on a 04' Cadilac SRX, 3.6 v6. with 65k. My 2 codes are p0300 and p0304. I have replaced plugs, and both bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1. Also I have replaced fuel filter and number 4 ignition coil. Still the same problem. I have even swapped the ignition coils, same thing. Today, I took of intake and tested all injectors with 13 ohms resistance. I pulled them and cleaned them all, especially number 4 with no change in symptoms. I have also tested for vacuum leaks but have not found any. I am wondering if there is a way for me to test if the motor is still in time? I don't know how to do that on newer engines. Is there any possibility that the PCM might be causing these codes? Any other ideas?

I don't know what you attempted to clean but it's the inside of the injector that needs to be cleaned, not the outside. You can't do that. You're probably going to need some lab scope testing to find the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You need to grab hold of an enhanced scan tool to look at current and history misfire data. You need to see exactly which cylinders are skipping for the P0300. Knowing what is skipping will give you some direction. You also may need to do a compression test. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Before we get into the heavy artillery techII labscopes etc.. your scanner will it read ALL codes not just generic- P0001 - P0999? to be sure where is #4 cylinder You are NOT using a oiled air filter? how does #4 plug look -wet dry black tan? the plugs are AC Delco nothing else. check fuel pressure .then with KOEO Observe press drop - drops Xpsi in 5min. I think that list will yield a clue sorry GTG YOU ANSWER I WILL FINISH LATER.....

I didn't just clean outside. I pulled out #4 injector and hooked it up to a 9 volt battery, which opened and closed injector as I flushed carb cleaner with a suringe with Carb cleaner through the injector, still nothing.

The 2 codes are p0300 and p0304. The book says cylinder 4 is on drivers side, middle bank. I am using a normal paper air filter and A/C Delco plugs. Plugs are black around outside ring, and tan in middle, except for #4 cylinder, it was all black. I don't have a fuel pressure tester. My friend may have something I can borrow.

You should definitely start with a compression test. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

That still doesn't do much without a lot of pressure and stronger solvent and this is assuming that dirt is the problem in the first place. You haven't actually determined the injector is the problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

two things come to mind: 1) #4 injector is leaking- a fuel pressure leak down test KOEO would help ck this 2) A compression test DIY'er limited tools no scanner to see data, easier said than done swap injector see if code follows. Did You dbl check ign coil to plug connector? PS- yes on#4 location

So, I finally went and got my own compression tester and tested Cylinder #4, #5 and #6, all the ones I could get to without taking off intake. Both #5 and #6, the back of each banks were 90psi, but #4 was zero pressure. That's a bummer, especially at 65k. How hard is it to take off Heads? Can someone only do valve work on the one side without doing the other?

You do both heads. why do you suspect heads/valves and not rings? might want to co a compression leak down test - 90lbs compression would need more checking. And or remove valve cover L/S observe valve operation. did you do a wet and dry compression test, thought is washed out ring sealing from a bad injector...or stuck rings BUT I am an total optimist.
