I have an 03 Hyundai Tiburon 4cyl 2.0L 5 speed with about 90000 miles on it. the other day i go out and to my car get in and start it up with no problems. then i drive to a place, turn off the car of course, lock the doors and arm the alarm system (it's an aftermarket alarm system) with the key fob; everything seems fine. then about 30 minutes later i'm back at my car to leave again, so i unlock the car with the key fob i hear the chirps that the alarm system makes to indicate that it has been disarmed. but this time when i try to start the car, nothing happens. it doesn't make any sounds or anything. but all the electrical stuff seems to be working. in any case, i get out of the car and lock it with the key fob again thinking i will just go inside and wait for someone to come pick me up. but now the alarm system wont arm and the doors don't lock. I ended up having to tow the car home, but here are the things I tried already:

-alarm system override procedure
-jump start (it still didn't start or make any sounds)
-load tested battery
-checked applicable fuses and relays
-bypassed alarms immobilizer (based on the schematic found in the installation manual for this alarm)
-confirmed the switch behind the clutch works
-measured voltage on starters command wire during ignition (it was 0v)

any advice would be appreciated.

How did you bypass the alarm? You should find the alarm module and the wiring for the starting circuit that someone cut to install the alarm. Reconnect it back to how it was from the factory and see if your problem is solved.

There's an image of the schematic for the alarm system here. I got this from the installation manual on this alarm system. I circled the important part in red. It's a little blurry, but you can see there is just one relay involved. It is normally closed on pins 30 and 87a. the start solenoid wire was cut during installation and attached to these two pins. so while the relay is not powered it remains closed at allows the car to start. it only powers up when the alarm goes off and therefore opens the relay between pins 30 and 87a and prevents starting. so i just disconnected the wires on pins 30 and 87a and shorted them together so that it is as if the relay stayed closed always. that way no matter what state the alarm system is in it should never be able to stop the car from starting. the rest of the alarm module is still connected as it was meant to be.

That eliminates the aftermarket alarm. This vehicle is also equipped with a factory burglar alarm, according to the starting schematic.

Do you have power at the clutch switch when you turn the ignition to start?

there was no voltage on the switch behind the clutch either. but in any case i figured it out this morning. it turns out that the alarm systems +12v wire was wire tap spliced (not sure about the terminology but it was one of the weird folding types of splice with a terminal connector coming off of the side) into the wire coming off of pin 5 from the back of the ignition switch (that wire just happens to supply the starter system with 12v). it seemed to be making an intermittent connection; i could wiggle it and the alarm system would come back on and then shut off again. so, i re-spliced it and the car started up just fine. Thanks for your input :)
