[VIDEO] 2005 Hyundai Matrix black smoke , loss of power and problem starting Sign In

Hello everyone , my car is 2005 Hyundai Matrix Crdi 1.5 Diesel . The battery is new and fine , all the filters and oil are changed 4 months ago . First problem is , it takes a lot of cranking before it starts . I have to crank it for like 30 - 60 minutes for it to start . You can see in this video i recorded where im trying to start it (at this point i have been cranking it for 15 minutes ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWUln0cTCxU . After it starts , and while its running , the car releases HUGE amount of black smoke from the exhaust . So much it's embarassing to drive it around . And also , there is a huge loss of power . Have you encountered this problem in your car ? What could be the solution ?

That vehicle is not sold here in the states, so advice is limited.

WHY are you cranking it for so long?? All your doing is killing your starter. You really should have it towed to your local repair shop.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Same - more limited as not specialized in diesel much. DS - I think OP means seconds not minutes. Watched the 29 sec. video and seems it plain cranks too slow OR really choking on fuel enough to "hydraulic lock" it some?
That in turn could wear engine quickly - I guess less with diesel than gas washed. All that just the cranking but if low compression on a diesel it's not going to burn fuel properly, well* or if simply way too much is being injected or can trickle down into cylinders when shut off?
Short study of concept of how diesel burns fuel. Cold needs "glow plugs to assist" and still needs VERY high compression as it should be firing on "heat of compression" rather than spark.

IDK - 2005 - May have codes to read on this vehicle even if not a N. American spec vehicle? How does engine oil look? Too full perhaps? If you disabled fuel delivery and that's as fast as it can crank that's one problem alone new battery or not it's not fast enough for any I just hear out there. Cables may not be up to par anymore or connection and starter in question too. All has to be considered,

T
