Tacoma's engine dies after driving for 1/2 hour

I've got a 97 Tacoma with 200,000 miles and a 2.7 ltr engine. I recently had my catalytic converter stolen and it was replaced. During the down time I took the head off and cleaned everything up. It ran fine for a while but now the engine dies after about 1/2 hour of driving. I put an OBD scanner to it and got a reading that said "Manufacturer Control Ignition System or Misfire". There are 2 code #'s for this. P1300 and P1310. Can anyone help me? landshark

These codes are igniter circuit malfunction 1 &2, which the igniter is located in the distributer cap area...the igniter is about the same as a coil, or it could mounted on the fender wall.

My ignition system doesn't have a distributer. So should I assume the igniter is in the coil assembly? Thanks again for your help! landshark

The igniter should look like this. On the remotely mounted coils, the igniter is secured to the coil. Just giving you an assist Dave Jim

I nearly forgot to mention that there's a fuel odor when this occurs. Could it be related to the igniter problem? Thanks again! landshark

The fuel odor is the result of the misfiring, when this happens you have extra fuel in the intake,....and the igniter is what sets the spark, so the anwser to the question is yes.

FYI. I took off my coil packs, cleaned the contact points and drove it for a few miles. I rescanned it and got no ignition fault codes. Thanks again for your help!! landshark

Another FYI. My engine died again so it was my coil packs. Got new ones so hopefully it won't happen again. landshark
