Code PO507 - Idle Control System RPM High Sign In

Hi,

Have an 03 Altima 2.5S. Check engine light came on, code is PO507, Idle Control System RPM High.......RPM's are not high, vehicle misses now and then. I was told by someone at Pep Boys the car probably needs a 1AC Motor, only sold by Nissan. Anyone know anything about my problem?

I have the tool to turn off the code which I did, but it comes back on.

Thanks

I have seen very few IAC problems with Nissans. If the engine has a miss, you may want to track down that problem first. Every time the miss occurs, the crank sensor will see this as the RPM will slow down due to the cylinder that has the miss will not contribute. The computer will try to compensate for the miss, if at idle, the computer will command the IAC to open to bump the idle up. Check the condition of the secondary ignition parts; coils, wires, plugs, etc. Spraying water on them with the engine running and listening for an idle change is a good procedure. Take a test light and connect the clip to ground. Now, run the probe tip slowly down the wire. Look carefully. If you see arcs going from the plug wire to the test light, replace the plug wires. The insulation has deteriorated and the electricity is finding an easier path to ground. Start there and let us know how you make out.

Re: Code PO507 - Idle Control System RPM High Sign In

Hello Steve, remember me, the guy with the 03 Altima with Code PO507, Idle Control System RPM High, well, today I took the car to Nissan dealer. They found the Throttle Chamber needed replaced. It also required a gasket. I noticed prior to taking it to the dealers when you take your foot off the gas pedal it acted as if you were hitting the brakes when in fact your foot didn't touch the brake. The repair was free, cost Nissan $182.00, part was under warranty, car has 54514 miles on it. So, any Altima owners with check engine light on and same code watch for this problem which I don't think happens too often.
